About Salus Global

15 Years. Every Sector. Every Environment.

Salus Global LLC was founded on a simple premise: operators and EPC contractors deserve access to senior HSE expertise without paying for the overhead of a large consultancy. We deliver the same quality, rigor, and methodology as DNV, ABS, or Lloyd's Register — at rates that reflect an independent operation.

Our principal consultant brings over 15 years of direct operational and project HSE experience across the full hydrocarbon value chain — from wellhead to refinery gate, and from shallow-water platforms to deepwater SURF installation vessels.

Upstream, midstream, and downstream operational HSE
Offshore Gulf of Mexico — platform and marine vessel operations
SURF and marine installation campaigns
Hook-up and commissioning (HUC) projects
Major EPC capital projects — onshore and offshore
OSHA PSM — Process Safety Management compliance
HAZID and HAZOP facilitation — multiple operator standards
Incident investigation and root cause analysis — TapRooT, ICAM

Why Salus Global

The Independent Advantage

Major consultancies bring brand recognition. Salus Global brings senior-level expertise, direct access, and rates that reflect the value of the work — not the overhead of a 10,000-person firm.

01
Direct Senior Access
Every engagement is led by our principal consultant — not handed to a junior associate after the proposal is signed. You get 15+ years of experience on every deliverable.
02
Competitive Day Rates
Independent operations mean no corporate overhead, no utilization targets, and no markup layers. DNV-quality work at 30–40% lower cost — consistently.
03
Rapid Mobilization
No procurement queues. No global resource scheduling conflicts. When your project needs HSE support, we mobilize — typically within 1–2 weeks of engagement.
04
Operator-Side Experience
Our background is from the client side — we understand what operators actually need from a HAZID or HAZOP, not just how to run the methodology by the book.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most often from operators, project managers, and EPC procurement teams.

What is a HAZID study and when is it required? +
A HAZID (Hazard Identification) study is a structured workshop conducted at concept or early design stage to identify major accident hazards before they become embedded in project design. It is typically required at FEED (Front-End Engineering and Design) stage for offshore facilities, and is referenced in ISO 17776 for offshore projects. Unlike HAZOP, HAZID operates at a system level before detailed P&IDs are available, making it the first step in the hazard analysis hierarchy.
How long does a HAZID study take? +
A typical HAZID for a moderate-scope offshore project runs 3–7 days total: 1–2 days of document review and preparation, 1–2 days of facilitated workshop, and 1–3 days of report production. Scope, facility complexity, and number of hazard categories assessed are the primary drivers of duration. Salus Global provides a fixed-scope estimate prior to engagement so there are no budget surprises.
What is the difference between HAZID and HAZOP? +
HAZID is a high-level hazard identification technique used early in a project — it identifies what could go wrong at a system or area level. HAZOP is a more detailed, node-by-node analysis conducted against completed P&IDs using structured guide words (More, Less, No Flow, etc.) to identify specific process deviations and their causes, consequences, and safeguards. HAZID sets the foundation; HAZOP is the detailed engineering follow-through. Most major projects require both.
When is a HAZOP revalidation required? +
HAZOP revalidation is required when: significant process modifications are made (triggering a Management of Change review); operating conditions change beyond the original HAZOP envelope; the facility changes ownership; the original HAZOP is more than 5 years old (per industry best practice and many operator standards); or an incident occurs indicating a deviation not previously identified. OSHA PSM (29 CFR 1910.119) requires PHA revalidation every 5 years for covered processes.
Does Salus Global work offshore Gulf of Mexico? +
Yes. Our principal consultant has direct offshore Gulf of Mexico operational experience including platform operations, SURF installation vessel campaigns, and hook-up and commissioning projects. We hold the necessary offshore certifications for GOM operations and are available for both short-term offshore assignments and extended rotational roles.
How does Salus Global compare to firms like DNV or ABS? +
DNV and ABS bring global brand recognition and large teams — valuable for regulatory submissions requiring third-party certification bodies. Salus Global brings equivalent methodology, operator-side experience, and direct senior-level delivery at 30–40% lower cost. For operators and EPC contractors who need high-quality HAZID or HAZOP facilitation without the certification body requirement, Salus Global delivers the same rigor with greater responsiveness and transparency.
What is Control of Work (CoW) consulting? +
Control of Work consulting covers the development, implementation, and assurance of systems that manage how hazardous work is planned and authorized — primarily Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems, isolation management (LOTO/LOTOTO), SIMOPS management, and associated safe work practices. Services include gap assessments against operator or industry standards, procedure development, PTW system audits, and workforce or supervision training.
Can Salus Global lead an independent incident investigation? +
Yes. Salus Global provides independent incident investigation and root cause analysis (RCA) for workplace injuries, near-misses, process safety events, and high-potential incidents. As an independent third party, we eliminate internal conflicts of interest that can compromise investigation integrity — particularly valuable for incidents involving contractor interfaces, management system failures, or events requiring regulatory reporting. We apply structured methodologies including TapRooT, ICAM, and fault tree analysis, and deliver findings in a format that satisfies OSHA PSM requirements and operator management system standards.
Can Salus Global provide HSE staffing for short-term projects? +
Yes. Beyond direct consulting services, Salus Global maintains a network of vetted independent HSE professionals across upstream, midstream, and construction disciplines. For projects requiring HSE coverage beyond what a single consultant can provide — or requiring specific specializations — we can source, screen, and place qualified candidates directly, without staffing agency markup. Typical mobilization within 1–3 weeks.
